Envy est un groupe de Post-Rock/screamo japonais fondé en 1992. Contrairement aux autres groupes du genre, les textes d'Envy sont entièrement en japonais.
C'est en 2001, après avoir sorti plus d'une douzaine d'EPs et de singles, que le groupe sort son premier vrai album, All The Footprints You've Ever Left And The Fear Expecting Ahead, méconnu bien que salué par la critique et qui contient quelques perles du genre comme Farewell To Words ou A Cage It Falls Into. Envy est considéré comme un groupe fondateur du screamo.
En 2006, Insomniac Doze marque un tournant par rapport à l'album précédent A Dead Sinking Story, le groupe vote pour des morceaux plus Post-Rock et des compositions plus aeriennes.
Le groupe effectuera quelques concerts en France au mois de novembre 2007, et sortira un EP, Abyssal, le 7 novembre 2007. Les derniers concerts français du groupe datent de leur passage au Hellfest et au Furia Sound Festival en juin 2008.
En 2008, le groupe sort un split avec Thursday, un succès.
